You are 4wd, right? I launch in either 4hi or auto and dont have traction issues with my Yank 3000. I have yet to spray the converter with nitrous off the line, but I still dont think I'd have an issue. I think you are going to like the Yank. It should work well with your engine mods.

Yeah, I'm a 4x4. It seems that any time I have a question you're the first to reply, thanks. I don't know, but the times I have launched in 4hi I'v gone up 3 tenths slower. How much power can these t-cases hold, I know Parish8 is putting a whole lot through his? Either way, I don't think that 31" tires are the ideal size, what size have you been running?

Well, I currently have 31.6" tires. I had a set of 32.8" tires on last year. 99% of the time, I am running my stock tires. The type of tire you run and rubber compound make a difference. My current tires (Michelin Cross Terrains) are heavier than most, but seem to have pretty good grip. Now with my Yank, I'm thinking I may go with a wider profile tire to help with traction a little more.
I get my good time slips with a little help from nitrous. I have found that 4auto cant hold that much power and the rear still spins some. So most of my runs have been in 4hi just so I have traction. If I'm not going to spray it, auto workes just fine.
How is the motor build going? Any progress or decisions yet?

Well, I'm getting $2400 back from income tax that will be going into the build. I got a hold of some 6.0 heads and I found a local that dedicates his time to LT1 LS1 builds. Since I'm a friend of a friend, he says he can do a stage III porting for $1300! I don't think it'll be done this year since the engine (if built right) will blow my trans and diff, not only that, but I have to up-grade tha fuel system (from what I've been reading in the internal section). So I have a lot to learn and will definitely be bugging you for help as I go along.

with the yank i bet you will be faster in 4hi or auto than in 2wd.
couple things i have noticed, when you get more power 4hi is alot smother than auto4wd, auto seems to kick in too late and jars the truck worse. i have 29" tires and would do it again, i am all about ET but they do look a little funny, you might want to go with a little taller tire than me. now for the BIG one, with the stock tires and stock height my truck bounced, jerked and bucked hard. now with shorter wider tires and a 1" drop i am launching smooth and hard. last night i pulled a 1.79 60' and a 3.67 0-60mph and didn't turn a tire. not sure if any of this aplies to you but who knows, it might.

Hey parish, congrats on the new times. I've never had any kind of trouble, bucking or bouncing, when I've launched in 4hi. Right now I'm running 33" MT/R's, I bought these for off-roading and the winter snow. I know what you mean about the truck looking different with smaller tires, it takes me a long time to get used to a 31" tire after I take off the 33"s. I've been contemplating the idea of 4.10's but can't decide for sure, these would definitely help turn my off-road tires.

What would be the best tire size to run at the track with 3.73's? I was interested in the Hoosier Drag Slicks that were in a post some time ago. They were a 28" tire. Would they be too small or not small enough? I've been running with 31" highway tires, but my Yank 3000 should be here this Friday so I thought I may have some traction problems. The mods will keep coming as long as the money flow is good, that's why I wanted to go all out and get drag slicks now. Is this overkill? Thanks for the help.
