Default th350/400 guys and 4l80e guys ??

th350/400
ok i know there a fiew of you out there.

what exackly are you running? i like the manner of the trannys know because of my friends camaro.

are you running a gv unit?

what kind of mielage are you getting compared to the factory auto.

what are you doing about the speedo and odometer?

4l80e

mainly how do you like it and did your gas mielage change?

i want to know because a 400 with a gv will be about the same as a 4l80e either or will have a man valve body. i trust a 400 more and like them more. but with an 80 i can put a manual lock up switch and dont have to worry about figuring the speedo and odometer out. i have to drive the truck everyday and need to get the same gas mielage if not better (aprox 10.5 mpg) my main concern is the speedo.

TH-400, no GV but i wish i had one with the 4.10 gear. i don't and won't drive it much further than an hour, not so much for the bad mileage that it does get, but it's not exactly quiet either. oh yea, i am turning about 28-2900 at 60MPH.

I like the 80e. It's a good stronger than a built 60 hands down. With the 8e and the speartech harness, it's pretty much plug and play. You DO have to get your PCM rerogrammed, but Spearech can take care of that too.

WIth 4.10's I ru abou 2500 rpm at 75 and 2000 at 55.

don't know if they have one for the 80 or not, i doubt it. a transbrake is a modification done to the valve body and case, allowing the transmission to be locked in first and reverse at the same time, thus locking the transmission. i don't have mine hooked up yet, but look forward to it. is it hard on it? you bet, that's why you only use it right as you are about to leave. mash the button, put the pedal to the mat, release the button and hang on. oh yea, and hope nothing breaks.

i would get the speartech harnes but with the manual valve body i would want to lock it up with a switch. and the tranny would be turned off in the comp so it would not send signals.

there was a discussion about a t-brake for the 80 and from what i heard there is one out there but not available to the public. also you can not run a lockup verter with a t-brake is what i was told. this is all hearsay from the trans forum a while back.

i like the 400 because of the strength and how readily available stuff is pluss i love the one in my friends car.

Texas Terminator: how did you do your speedo and stuff? hell with a gv and 3.90 gears i should be good to go on the highway. hell i might get better mielage than now or about the same.

i always planed to have a 350/400 with man valve and brake but then everyone started swaping the 80 and gave me another option.

thanks guys lets hear some more.

you can run a lockup converter with a 350/400.

no biggie. had to change the plug going to the speed sensor. mr. rossler fixed me up with a reluctor ring and sender before i got it. i would like to have a GV myself, but, the $$$ involved is extreme. with a reasonable gear, ie: 3.73, the 350/400 by itself wouldn't be all that bad.

humm that is good to know so both the speedo and odometer work. looks like that is the direction i will go.

correct vacumoperated i believe. but from what i understood you can not have a lockup converter with a brake.

yours is non lock up correct? that is what i want
what shifter are you using? I plan to use the b&m ratchet and just make a mount for it to raise it up.
