Default Solid Motor Mounts?

I have read where a few of you are running homemade solid motor mounts and was curious about any ill effects or issues with them. How bad are the vibrations? How much more difficult does it make changing the transmission? I still have the original 10yr old, 160K mile rubber mounts on my truck and have noticed my headers have been hitting the frame on accel. Since poly's aren't offered (unless some have recently become available), I figured solids may be better than stock replacements at my power level.

theyre easy to build.... just take some plate and box in around the rubber isolators. Weld it up and be done... I'm building some for my truck as well. I've ridden and driven truck with solid mounts in the past and it is a bit louder in the cab and you can feel the vibrations frmo the drivetrain much more but I wouldnt say its excessive.

you could make your own poly mounts using universal bushings
if you do solid mount the motor be sure to make the trans mount the same

i wonder if the vibrations and bumps in the road will be picked up by the knock sensors...

Tune them a little less sensitive and you'll be fine... I know most don't agree but I know several people who tune them out all together.

Generally you do not want to use a solid transmission mount, even with solid motor mounts. If the motor moves (rubber motor mounts) or the frame flexes a bit (with solid motor mounts) a solid trans mount can break the transmission case.
