rod and piston question
#1
So I just got my stuff back from the machine shop the other day. Bought a reman crank had my rods and pistons checked and the block prepped. Well the kicker is I installed my crank today checked it torqued everything to spec. When I went to get the rods to prep them I noticed the numbers of what cylinder they go in wasn't on the bottom of them like it was when I took them to the machine shop. I think it was written with tire marker or something. Anyway does it matter at this point since everything is new which cylinder they go in. I understand the way the rods are made and everything matter and the dot on the top of the piston. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Have the rod bearings been fit for the crank journals yet? If yes, then yes then need to go on the journal that it was sized for. If not it needs to be done, then you can mark them once they have been done for each one.

The piston position shouldn't matter. As long as you have the bearings size straight, your good. Unless you have only one journal o.s. and 1 rod journal undersized... Etc.... Even then, it's all about your bearing placement for the rods. Just check your clearances then check them again
