this thing is MEAN! with the exception of a leaking power steering pump which was bad on my part to reinstall the original pump with 220K and a small vacuum leak on the map sensor she drives great. felt good to be behind the wheel of my truck after 382 days of not running. thanks guys for all the support, help, and advice along the way. i still cant get a video to post but ill figure it out eventually.

If you had to do it again, would you go bigger? I ask because I'm currently on the fence about building the LS1 block I have into a 383 or scrap it for a 402 project.

Congrats, I hope it was worth all the pain you suffered. Good to hear it's running well.

honestly no i would have done a 402 if i had not been so hell bent on being different. everyone has a 402, 408, 412 in their truck. i wanted a 383 because the block i had was good and i hate wasting good parts. i do love the 383 and the power increase i have. but there is no replacement for displacement. but then again if i dumped the compression and front mount turbo charged it i would still do the 383. i guess it really depends on the builder.

I wouldn't do a 402 either. I like my 383. It's been perfectly reliable and has great power. It's also not too bad on fuel for daily driving.
