Default my 383 build thread

i dont see this engine build done alot so i thought i would cover it here. ill take pics as i go along. let me know what you guys think and any input on parts or knowledge on what to look out for would be awesome. as for now here is what i have done so far.

here is the dirty engine bay. about to be pressure washed and repainted.

here she is all stripped down ready to be dipped and bored .125"

this is what happens when you buy a used TBSS intake from an unknown condition engine

again more carnage

all of my parts either to be cleaned or powder coated

everything bagged and tagged

let me know what you guys think as i continue this build. im debating on what color to powder coat the block. chevy orange or blue to match the truck???

I've seen lots of 07+ trucks with massive detonation issues that sent chunks of the pistons into the intake manifold, looks like that what you found in your used intake?

It's funny that whatever was banging around in those cylinders didn't just get thrown out the exhaust ports. Anyhow, good luck with the build, you're gonna love the 6.3L. I forget, are you going with forced induction?

oh man, that that thing is gonna be sweet.. I say you color match the block with the truck.. Seeing the engine in blue would deff be something different.

ok so blue it is. the block heads to the machine shop monday or tuesday depending on if i have time after work. i plan later on to do a rear mount turbo but that will be years from now if im lucky at all. we have a 3rd baby due in june. im lucky shes letting me get away with this.

as far as my used intake yes there was most likely metal stuck in it when i got it. its quite a shame i have to toss it and buy a LSX RT isnt it?
