I don't see a problem with the 98' blocks personally. It's not like I'm going all out and it's going in a drag car. I understand the problems with the 98' blocks and appreciate the concern. If I was to buy a new block, it for sure wouldn't be a 98'. I bought the longblock for $450, it was pulled because of a few bad valve seals with ~89,000-90,000 miles on it. I was originally looking for a good 6.0 longblock, either LQ4 or LQ9. My original plans with the LS1 was a mild h/c LS1. I was gonna replace all the seals, gaskets, bearings, rings, etc. I started thinking that the jump from a 325ci to a 346ci wouldn't give me the extra torque I was looking for. So, I finally decided on building something a little bit bigger than the 364 I was originally looking for, hence the 383.

When I started buying parts for the 383, I wanted a mild stroker set-up that would put down at least 400rwhp/425rwtq and have a bunch of under the curve power. It should drive very good on the street with a Yank 2600. Hopefully at the track, it'll be good for high 12s with slicks. I'll be running the truck intake for awhile, but plan on swapping to a ported LS6 after the first of next year.

your plans are good but youll have more money into a 383 stroker then you would need to make 4xx/4xx RWpower. a nice 6.0 will put those numbers down. a 346 has put those numbers down many times

personally 5xx/5xx is the goal for a stroker anything less i wouldnt bother

Seriously thats alot of money when you could have just slapped a radix on or turbo and had that power. You are selling yourself short IMO.

yea seriously, but a cam and heads would get you that power with right tune on a 6.0. alot less then a blower. just a little less driviably

-Mahle Forged Pistons -6cc dish (3.903" Bore)

I've still need to order some bigger injectors. Any ideas on which ones and how much I'm looking at paying?

I'd also like to replace the tranny when I do the motor swap. Should I buy all the parts for the rebuild and have somebody do it? Pay to have it done by a local shop? Or get one from a sponser? As of right now nothing is wrong with it, but I know that as soon as I get the 383 in, it's gonna go out.

Any other comments or thoughts are welcome! Thanks!

all that for just 2k nice
