Just ordered $2000 in parts for my motor build-up. Here's what I've got or have ordered:
-98' LS1 Block
-4.000" Eagle Crank
-Scat 6.125" H-beams
-Mahle Forged Pistons -6cc dish (3.903" Bore)
-Patriot Performance Stage II 5.3 Heads
-F13 Cam (230/232-.595/.585-114)
-Durabond Cam Bearings
-Clevite "H" Rod & Main Bearings
-ARP Main Studs
-Stock Replacement Gaskets
-FMS 7.400" Pushrods
-FMS Ported LS6 Oil Pump
-Single Rollmaster Timing Chain
-GM Performance Stock Replacement Lifters
-Stock Rockers rebuilt by harland sharp w/ new bearings
-GM Head Bolts
-ARP "Cracked Rod" 2000 Series Rod Bolts
I've still need to order some bigger injectors. Any ideas on which ones and how much I'm looking at paying?
I'd also like to replace the tranny when I do the motor swap. Should I buy all the parts for the rebuild and have somebody do it? Pay to have it done by a local shop? Or get one from a sponser? As of right now nothing is wrong with it, but I know that as soon as I get the 383 in, it's gonna go out.
Any other comments or thoughts are welcome! Thanks!

Why such a small cam? 44# injectors is what I have for my 418 and they see 86% duty cycle with a larger cam than yours and more cubes so 44s should be fine and mine were about 300 from Nelson Performance.

8.1L marine injectors=direct swap and 44# flow rate
Im running a 237/242 cam in a 418 in a truck that weighs 500#s more and its got more tq then I know what to do with. I tell guys all the time to go bigger with these strokers and they dont listen. You are leaving so much on the table by not going as big as possible on cam size. Its your engine do what you want but me personally I like a big cam and big power thats why Im going to a 245/250 when I go through it a couple of months. IMO that cam is too small a cam like I have or a hair smaller would be the ticket but what do I know compared to Allen since I drove my truck everyday with my setup.

The 98 LS1's ran fine so I don't see why his block won't, reguardless of the improvements, I have seen very little proof of the vented being better other than in theory. The cam seems very respectable but not too crazy about the 114lsa unless you are going to be supercharged, nitrous, or have a tight converter with an auto (less than 2500). Nevertheless it should run well.
For future notice, don't post what you have just bought without running it unless you plan on "why didn't you do this, or why didn't you do that post"
Sounds like a strong set-up!

That is a decent cam. The TSP 233/239 in the Wood Hauler's truck seems to work great with the 408, but today we tried it since we got the headers on and it feels like it starts laying over after about 6300 or so, (due to the truck intake I believe). I think that cam will work excellent with your combo, and will be very tame cruising around.
