yep, those fans are pretty loud. sounds like you need a louder exhaust though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

I installed some ls1 fans on my sierra on Sunday. I had the + and - reversed on the fans so they were pushing instead of pulling. When I swapped them it quieted them down. The only time I can hear mine is if I walk around the front of the truck and just barely inside the cab stopped with no radio.

Bigtex- right now the only time mine come on is around 175 and that is sitting in stop and go traffic right now in 70 degree weather. Other than that they don't come on. I have a 160 degree thermostat and it keeps the truck running around 170 running during the winter outside of stop and go traffic.
I have mine wired to both come on around 175. I've been trying to find a wireing diagram that will show me how to run the fans at half speed and full speed when the temp rises. I haven's had too much luck. I'm also considering just running one fan with temp switch and set the the other one to come on with a/c in the summer.

Do you remove you factory flex fan when you install the electric fans? I just bought a Flex-a-lite high output fan that's supposed to be able to cool a V8 by itself so I was planning to remove the stock fan. That's the whole reason for installing the electric fans anyway isn't it? Do you use the ECT sensor as your 12 VDC source and use a relay to handle the current. That's what I'd like to be able to do. Otherwise I'm planning on using a spare 20 AMP fuse I found in the Under Hood Fuse Panel that is for some option that my truck doesn't have. It's only HOT when the keyswitch is in the RUN position. The fan draws 11 AMPS continuous altho I'm sure it pulls a little more than that on startup. What terminal or fuse socket did you guys tap into?

Yes you remove the stock clutch fan. Get a big enough wrench to fit the nut between the fan and the pulley and give it a couple of taps with a hammer. It will come loose just keep tapping counterclockwise. I used a fan wireing kit with an adujstable temp probe to turn the fans on when it gets to a certain temp from O'riley parts for $40. Works perfect.
