sub and amp speaker install questions

Default sub and amp speaker install questions

So i just got a 2014 silverado non bose touch screen. Im fine with the factory stero.. im wanting to add an amp and 10 inch sub. Jl audio is what im a fan of.. is hooking up an amp to the newer style steros a pain or is it simple. .

I can't tell you about the newer trucks, but as far as I know it would just be tapping in a LOC (line out converter) to sent signal to the amp. On the GMT-800 body style you could tap the wires under the center console. Not sure where you would pick it up on your model.

Other than that, it should be pretty straight forward.

I would always take the signal and turnon behind the radio (and leave slack) for when you want a better radio.

just my personal 2 cents. I worked in carstereo for 8 years (installer, manager, saleman, at several different shops)
Youre going to wear the stock speakers out trying to hang with an amplified 10. I have aftermarket speakers at all four corners and a huge amp powering them and my single 8" sub and its tons of bass. I typically have the base and treble flat and the sub output turned down into the negative.
