Default How much boost would you run?

Combo is a stock short block L33 (aluminum block 5.3L) with 216/230 116+3 Cam Motion camshaft. Livernois stage 2 ported 243 heads. Front drive TVS2300. 1.75" SW long tubes. Alky control meth. Two heat exchangers. Stock Maggie h/e in front of the radiator. Full size radiator mounted in the bed with e-fans for the second h/e. 11gpm intercooler pump.

Heads have been milled twice for cleanup only. I'm thinking mechanical compression ratio will be somewhere around 10.25:1. DCR around 8:1.

I have 3.1" and 3.3" pulleys in stock. On the previous 6.0L motor, boost was 9-10psi with the bigger pulley. 11-12psi with the smaller one.

So....I have good Texas 93 octane available that will be supplemented with the meth. Tuned conservatively, which pulley would you run? I'm guessing boost will be a couple psi more on each pulley vs what I saw with the 6.0L. I'd like it to last a good long while. This is my daily driver, but I do have a back up HD2500. I won't be walking if this one does **** the bed.

Stock diameter lower pulley? Thats a fairly conservative cam. A 2300 on a 5.3 can afford more cam with overlap... but i get not wanting that in a DD.

I would still run the smaller pulley. With meth to supplement 93 the lower end will take it. If youre OD balancer then I would start with the larger upper.

Is it going in the 04? Did the 6.0 get hurt?

Either a lifter or a cam lobe quit on me. Hard to tell if the chicken came before the egg or viceversa. I'm going to go through the 6.0L motor with new bearings etc and probably keep it for a spare. The L33 was there so figured it would get me up and running quicker. Plus, it would be nice to go from 14 to 16+mpg. I drive the thing 35 to 40K miles a year.

Yeah, the cam is pretty conservative. I'm pretty sure I'm past the big/stupid cam phase of my life. Yes, lower pulley is stock. I have one of Blown Chevy's (remember that guy???) "GripTec" 3.1" TVS pulleys. Should be a good test for it on a six rib serp. belt.
