LS1/LT1 fan isntall?
#42
Just installed some ls1 fans I bought from NineBall for $100, and used allens harness. They seem to work good, but the true test will be in the summer. Theyre set up like this:
engine cold, ac on - 1 fan 100%
engine warm, ac on - both fans 100%
engine warm ac off - both fans 50%
With the ac on, they will only kick in 100% when the ac clutch wire turns on, so when its cold outside they cycle on and off, about 5 seconds on 10 seconds off usually, and so far its keeping my engine plenty cool. In the summer, when they're both running 100% most of the time, I'm sure they will cool sufficiently. I wired a switch into the ground wire to turn them both on at 50% while the truck is off, to cool down at the track.

plus it makes your motor look much more hardcore

Ok, here are a few pics. Here is a pic of the Nelson harness again:

Notice on the left side of the pic there are 4 different looms coming out. The top 3 in the pic go to these 3 locations on my pic(below). The middle one clamps on to the dark green wire in the loom going up the center in the pic:

Then the small blue wire on the left side of the first pic plugs into the PCM. Simply remove the wiring harness from the PCM and the pin# you are looking for is 42, it is on the corner of the blue harness. It has a tip on it already so just push it all the way through the hole. Here is a pic of it coming up under the PCM cover:

Then plug in the 2 clips on the right hand side of the harness in the first pic into the 2 fans. Here are 2 pics of mine:

That is it for the wiring. Now to mount them up, I just used 3 zip ties through the metal lip of the fans and around the bar going above the radiator (1st pic below) and then use radiator ties to hold them firmly against the radiator(2nd pic below). You can get radiator ties from Advance Auto Parts near all of the other e-fan items and tranny coolers. Just drill a hole in each of the 4 tabs on the sides of the fans and push the radiator ties through the fins of the radiator to hold them firm.

Thats it! Here are 2 pics of the fans fully installed:

If you have any moer ?s just feel free to ask.
