Default LS1/LT1 fan isntall?

I've been hearing alot about this install and since I'm watching my budget it sounds like a good mod for the money if you find a wrecked car or used set. How hard is the job and what all is needed to finish? I know that Nelson's sells some sort of wiring harness. I'd much rather go this route than spending the 400.00 for flex a lite.

I know that nelson make a harness, and I have talked to PCMforless, their harness is $80.00 but you have to get the PCM reprogramed to run them. I have not talked to nelson.

Looking more into it I've read a couple places where the fans wont move as much or enough air for our trucks. But in my thinking, I figure if its enough to cool a 400+ hp engine shouldn't it be enough for my 5.3?

I also very interested in this. Who has installed these and how do they cool? Everything I've read was positive about this mod.

I have heard that the install is not bad.... you can either drill into the radiator frame or make brackets... I dont know how you are with fabrication but... Ill probably just have someone put them on for me... I suck at that kinda stuff..

Everyone I have talked to about these say there good anywhere from

8-15rwhp

I have a set of LS1 fans with the Nelson harness and love them. They were pretty easy to install, didn't run into any problems with them. Haven't had any problems keeping my engine cool here in west TX, I guess I will find out for sure during the summer. Good mod and you can really feel an improvement.

Well you've made up my mind then. If it gets too bad temp wise in the summer I'll just have to deal with it then. I could always throw the clutch fan back on there.
