How do you figure? Even though both diffs are spinning, if the transfer case isnt engaged theres no torque going to the front diff. He can run whatever gears he wants unless the transfer case engages.

I'd take that front DS out if you just regear the rearend... that way there's no chance of "bumping" the 4wd button and trashing a bunch of ****...

Why are you so worried about low end power???? I only make 150rwhp at 3000rpms.. but no less than 400rwhp after 4000rpms 4.8's dont make good low end power.

Yep....put at least a 3000 converter, a short tire, and 4.10 gear. Then spin that lil 4.8 as high as it wants to go. Then when it wears out, build you a 6.0L. That's what I would do anyway.

Uuummmmm.... no. I agree with the 3000 stall, a medium size tire and 4:10's, if its not turbo'd. As for the 6.0.......who needs one??? not me

Back to the topic; I had a 224/224 cam in my stock 4.8 when i had a radix. It made 440ish and went 12.60, lifting a head I think that your cam could work if you use it the right way.

Advancing the cam is done with an adjustable timing set.....usually under $150 for a good set.

You can try advancing the timing a little below 3500rpms and bring up your idle timing a little to help compensate for the lope....this will let the engine spin up a little faster.

I'd skip regearing for the cam.....just run a shorter set of tires and look for a 3500rpm converter. you'll limit your towing capacity but the truck will be a rocket !!

any brand of converter or is there one make better than others, or can i use one from a trailblazer??

But yelo your right about the rocket!!! at 3000 rpm that heavy *** truck takes off, of course my 8.1L would still smoke it!!!

I'd go with either Yank http://www.converter.cc/ or
Fuddle http://www.fuddleracing.com/
