Looking for power out of my 04 LQ4 2500HD
#1
Thanks for looking guys. I have a 2004 2500HD with a 10" lift, 37" tires, FIPK intake, Flowmaster mufflers, and a Hypertech tuner. Truck is a good runner but we recently bought a Weekend Warrior FS21. When loaded with water and our toys the truck tends to struggle. I plan on going with a set of gears for sure, but have no idea what ratio I should consider. Also looking for a couple small boltons that unleash some power from this beast. I do have HP Tuners for my Z06 and 3 credits left. I am sure eventually 2 will go to the truck but in the meantime what are a couple nice mods to get more power. Not looking for heads, cam, etc.... just boltons. Thanks for the ideas guys

First step, load the stock cal back onto your truck from the Hypertech... sell the Hypertech and use those HPt credits on your truck.
Second, 27" wheels aren't tall by any means, but perhaps you could benefit with some different gears

I agree though, definitely lose the Hypertech.

HAHA Sorry about that guys I did mean 37" Dick Cepeks. I put the truck back to stock a few weeks ago and believe it or not I really seen a differance in the truck amd my MPG so I retuned it the other night. Once I am better familar with HPT I will tune the truck. If I end up finding a "canned" tune that I can upload onto my truck and check out I might do that. I am wondering if I am going to see any great benefits from stuff like LT's or UDP? I have a pretty nasty H/C/I/E Z06 so I definately know my way around the LSX drivetrain just looking for alittle more on my truck. Mainly low down torque.

Can you scan your PCM with HPTuners while it's loaded with the hypertech cal and see exactly what is being changed in your PCM?
When I did this with my '04 Silverado 4.3L 87 octane tune I only saw 2 more degrees of ignition timing in the high rev. Everything else was stock.
Head over to the HPtuners forum and absorb as much info & techniques as possible. You could also load up your stock cal to the forum and someone could make changes for you to point you in the right direction
