Never had to use one in the 4 times my crank bolt ahs been off and mjhoward on this board ahs had his off even more and never needed a longer one.

Take a torch heat up the part that goes on the pulley snout for a little bit throw some grease on the crank snout shove it on there then put the bolt in there and pull it on in.

you don't have to get it very hot. Too hot and you can damage the seal. put grease on the inside and outside of the balancer as well on the crank. Heat it little at first, if it won't go then heat it a little more. It takes 30-60 seconds of heating with a propane torch. It will just slide on, immediatley cool off, shrink, and your done. Just install a new bolt and tq accordingly.

For press-fit parts, I put the part in the oven at 200* for 20 min. It won't burn the paint or risk overheating an damaging the part. Had to do it with a harmonic balancer. Also had to steal my wifes oven mits when she wasn't home.
