damn man that sucks, good thing this thread went on so long. Ive backed out of 2 engine purchases for this very reason. Ive heard of builders putting together shitty motors and then not backing them either. I may have my dad keep his eyes open for one that comes back to his dealership. There were 2 last time I was there. Dont know if that was a common occurance or not.
So #1 thing needed when shopping is a magnet.
Anyone have a pic of what the crank should look like? Is there a part number that can be verified on the crank?

Is this crank problem only on 6.0's or does it apply to earlier LS1 5.7's too? just wondering as I am planning on an ls1 swap w/ a 4l60.

Thanks.

Two sponsors have 402's on special right now. Both are within $200 of each other. Seem to be the same parts. One says it will take 8# of boost OR a 150 shot, but not both. I haven't gotten with the second sponsor to see what theres will handle.
Would I be better to go with a forged 6L and not bore it at all, put the radix on it and go for 10-12 pounds of boost?

I'm going for the longest thread title .

No replacement for displacement. Can a radix keep up with a motor that big? Besides you can always sell the radix for a procharger wich will put out more than enough air for that 402, and there easier to IC.

If you can't go roots or twin screw, I'd go turbo. With a 402/408, definitely twin screw or turbo. Centrifugals have all the downsides of a turbo (lag) plus those of a supecharger (parasitic loss). Those are race-only in my book.

I want to keep the Radix, I like the way the bitch sceams So I most likely am looking for a regular 6L or one with forged goodies that I can beat on, 10#'s of boost and some laughing gas. Somebody find me a engine builder who will forge a reg bore 6L, cheap.

i think going with a 402/408 is a waste of money if you are set on keeping the radix. 370 seems like a good value.

also on how much hp their motor will take, i wouldn't sweat that too much. any 402/408 is going to have a forged crank. i wouldn't be afraid for a sec to hit one with 10psi and a 150shot.

Does anybody (Sponsor) do a regular bore 6L with forged internals? What is a reg 6L 363ci?

i think any sponsor that builds motors will build you one of those. typicaly if you do pistons and rods in a 6.0 you end up going .030 over and have a 370.

i think a 370 is a great radix motor. hell, a good boost motor for anything.
