BTW, if I start to take apart the motor I'll have a stock oil pump in good working order available
I'm not sure how far past the stock 5.7L's 99mm you can go, but a sonic check would tell you for sure. I know you can take it to the 99mm though as it's been done a lot of times by people all across the net and even documented in magazines. I'm seeing stroker crank 383 in my future...

You can bore the 5.3 block a hair past 3.89(think thats the 5.7 bore Im tired) and there are pistons available for it as a .005 and .01 bore are common on the LS1 blcoks when someone scores a cylinder. BTW Thunder I need an oil pickup tube and windage tray also and the bolts for the oil pan.

I'd be curious what you would want for the crank and block.

Cody, sent you a PM about the heads, and I'll try to get to the bottom end of the engine sometime soon.

Keith, sent you a PM about the crank and block.

This wasn't intended to be a for sale thread but it's kinda turning into one, so mods if you want to move it to the classified section that's cool.

Thanks!

The 4.8/5.3 block can be taken out to 3.905" which is a very common aftermarket LS1 bore size. It's the LS1's 3.898" bore 0.010" over for those that can't add. Eagle makes 383 stroker kits that come with the whole rotating assembly, bearing etc. You could probably do an all forged 383 shortblock for about $3000.
