Default How saleable is a parted out 5.3?

I'm gonna have a 5.3 longblock to get rid of here pretty soon once I finish selling off all the accessories, trying to decide if I should part the motor out or sell it as a longblock. What do you guys think? It's got 118K miles on it, so I doubt I could get much for the longblock, maybe $400 to $500?? Are the individual parts in demand? Heads, pistons/rods, crank, block, oil pan, f/r covers, etc etc??

I did pretty good selling everything but the block, i still have a fully machined 5.3 block that I can't get rid of. Everything else can be used on the LS1/LS6/LS2 (Except pistons) and shouldn't be a problem to get rid of. I would recommend stripping it down and selling the crank and rods seperately from the block, you will probably get more money for it that way

Then you could see what boring it out to 99mm would cost... It would be fun to assemble it with aftermarket forged LS1 pieces since the iron block can handle more boost/HP than the aluminum one, and for cheaper.

I wish one of you were closer to me... if those iron blocks aren't worth much, maybe I could build one for cheap for another project of mine... hummmmmm

LOL....I haven't even decided to part it out just yet and you're already first in line.

I'm at work right now but I'll take a few minutes tonight to figure out what a fair price would be. Might have to start the parting out sooner than I thought

How far can the 5.3 block be bored?

BTW, if I start to take apart the motor I'll have a stock oil pump in good working order available

You shouldn't have much trouble getting rid of the parts. I would also use the iron block for a boosted project.

Let me know if you want the my block, I'm selling cheap (see parts for sale) and we can probably work some shipping.

the question is that, if they do they make an aftermarket .030 over piston for the 5.3 bore.
