Along with what Jake has said, I agrre with most of what he says here too. Save yourself a transmission and try to hook up with tires and 2WD without using 4WD. If you plan on doing transmission work, then preparing it for that kind of driving would be necessary if you want it to hold.

As for installing, there was a guy who was installing the stall on his TBSS and punctured some things and ended up costing him ALOT of money. Not trying to scare you, but I really wouldn't recommend doing it unless you are familiar with transmissions. Also, on top of the $300 cost of the stall, remember to factor in the cost of the cooler and then any installation you may need. I think a cooler will run you about $150.

True... have that problem now.

PM 'white1' about that. He launches in 4wd pretty often. I've heard him say it's REAL interesting during sideways burnouts in forward motion! May have to try that one day.

Since your stock stall is at about 1400 RPMs, IMO, you would be happy with a 2800 stall. Anything less and you may think it's not enough, much more and you may feel it's too much.

Like I said above, some of the bigger enthusiasts may go for a 3200-3600 stall, but unless you are serious about having a fast truck, then stay with the 2800

Shouldn't be too much of a difference. In order to stall it, you still need to hold the brakes, so with normal driving, you won't notice much, if any, revving before pulling out.

i just bought this truck...so the mods are just beginning. first is a muffler swap, intake, tune. then im trying to decide between headers, stall, or gears next. after one of those ill be having to save up money again for a while

hard2kill...what other mods do you have? any 1/4 passes or dyno #'s? whats your gas mileage?
