yep.. i had a K&N intake, Magnaflow Muffler, TR55s, LT1 Efans, and a crappy tune... not much more than stock, just using the RPMs more, shifting 6100 1-2nd and hittin the rev limiter just after i cross the traps at14.92@91.65 (Rev limiter 6200). basically i had the hypertech tune, adjusted some. 1-2gear shift just kindof slid into place... now that i have a built tranny it should do better...

and i couldnt hammer it with all it had out of the hole because my G-80 wasnt working all that great.

thats not bad really. i have to wait til after xmas to upgrade my hptuners interface to the pro version, dumbass me shoulda bought the pro version in the first place. when I get that I can start tuning the fuel tables. but for now the best with my ext cab with just exhaust/intake is 15.1 @ 92.

in the future im gonna do the cam, its worth every penny just like the exhaust is.

jake and nonnieselman, im guessing you guys are both 2wd? so tack on a couple hundred lbs for me (add a few 10ths). what you guys think of self tune software vs mail in pcm tuning....and keep this in mind. right now im at an academy so time to learn software is non existent and once i graduate, ill be on boats for months at a time so i really wont have much time to learn or play with the software. do the mail order guys do a good enough job for just trying to reach mid/high 14's? (no forced induction / nitrous will ever be needed)

what brand is that 2800 stall? where'd you buy it?

ok, i didnt notice you are 4wd.
Im using EFI Live and i love it! Tuning software > ALL.

I had a 10" 2800 PTC Stall, It wouldnt lock up for some reason. but i got 13mpg in town and back country roads. I sent it back and they are sending me a 12" 2400 PTC Stall. Im hoping it will be just a little bit better than my stock verter.
I have a Eaton LSD, STS Kit w/ Water-Air intercooler 6PSI, and TR6s that is at the house waitin to be installed. Im hoping for a low 13?

Man, you guys suck!!! Yall must be running up a 30* slope or something.
J/K

Seriously though, my 04' RCSB,5.3, 3.73s, Magnaflow catback and Nelsons 93 tune ran a 14.67@93mph, and that was with a full tank and 2 12s behind the seat.

Skip the BS, save the $$ on the catback and Intake, get a tune and a stall. the intake and catback will help you almost none whatsoever.
If you must, get a catback, but dont get a intake, just cut the bottom out of your factory setup. With the $$ you spend on a catback and intake, you can have a stall, that will make more of a different than anything short of Juice.

I dont see how the Catbacks help...especially for how much they cost $$$$.
Thats why i just got this Magnaflow

I dont see the point in spending $300+ on a catback....

now i will say a Stall is amazing, i cant wait till i get my new one put in this weekend.
just have to get the Eaton LSD put in too,,

Exactly, unless you have H/C, you are wasting you time doing any exhaust work short of replacing the muffler. The only exhaust mod that is really going to help out a stock 5.3 will be LTs, an off road X setup and 2 good mufflers, short of that, just get the above listed muffler and take the $300 savings.

i dont understand why you're ragging on catbacks when you have one yourself?

really a catback isn't bad if you're going for the sound/looks portion without sacrificing much performance. I hate tips therefore I dont have them, mine is just dumped under the cab redneck style lol.

a cam to go with any torque converter is the ticket. best bang for your dollar other than nitrous I guess. Im not a big fan of "Hey look at me I can go fast when I spray laughing gas in my shitty stock motor that's gonna blow soon".
just my .02
