Default HOT cam in a 6.0 ??

any idea how well the GM HOT cam would work in a 6.0 with Stage I LS1 heads and stock torque converter ????

if the Torque curve is relatively flat I might be going that way

hey! my stuff is now sitting in the garage too!

As you know, I don't have much knowledge on your cam question, but what are the specs on a gm hot cam?

That looks like a good cam for a street driven 6.0 with relatively low lift, looks like it would be a beast from 3000 rpm up to 6500 rpm.

moregrip...the HOT cam specs are 219º/228º .525/.525 112lsa

whitt1....I'm tossed up between that, the TR220 (220º/220º .553/553 114lsa) and the Comp 216º/220º .522/.544 114lsa. I figure the HOT cam will pull like a BEAST at the top end but the TR220 seems the best overall cam (gains of 70hp and 60ft/lbs all the way across the powerband on STOCK LS1 heads)

I am currently SOOOOO cunfused as to which cam I want

70hp from a cam swap in an otherwise stock 6.0 sounds crazy high to me for a cam that small. If I'm wrong and 70hp is an average gain, you just solved my cam choice dilemma, and I'm wondering why you are considering anything else. It just sounds unrealistic to expect to gain that kind of power, even if you are talking about HP at the flywheel as opposed to RWHP. When you consider that a stock 6.0 probrobally only makes like 250 RWHP to start with, you honestly can't believe you would pick up 70 RWHP from a .553 lift cam. That cam is close to the 02 Z06 cam in specs, and most report a gain of around 25hp with a Z06 cam swap.

FWIW, I've heard that the LS1 hot cam is a PITA to tune! I've personally never tried it, but it might be something to do with the tighter LSA. If you run a search in this forum on the hot cam, you'll see what I'm talking about. Good luck!

BADMOFO......I have seen dyno charts of that TR220 cam, average gain on a 5.7 is what I posted above (it's kinda hard to believe but that's what I am seeing). BTW...it nowhere near the specs of the Z06 cam....16º more intake duration, 2º more exhaust duration, and tighter lsa

02denali.....no, I'm sorry......I'm working like 80hrs a week right now but as soon as I get a chance I WILL do it...I promise
