Im going on 14-15 times on my original stock 5.3 crank bolt with no problems. Use a tool to press the balancer on and use an impact to tighten the bolt. Never had a problem.. Just sayin for the guys that say you MUST change your bolt or disaster will happen. Yes its tty but if youve looked at a used head bolt and the threads are stretched, if you look at a used balancer bolt they are not stretched and all the threads look exactly the same.

You sir, have much bigger ***** than I. Ive read many times where people are breaking the crank bolt from reusing it. Since youre using a pulley installer, your not cranking that stock bolt to 240 ft lbs every time you use it so telling people to reuse it "just because you've done it" is bad. Most wont be using a pulley installer.

I reused my bolt 4 or 5 times with no problem. I got a 120mm long bolt to get the pulley sucked on most of the way then swap it for the stocker and snugged it down the rest of the way.

I was just stating what I have done and done to another 20+ vehicles that I have done cam swaps on. I never once told any one to do it. I turn my motor 7200 and I'm not the slightest bit worried about it. The people that have issues destroying their bolts are trying to pull the pulley back on to the crank. That is just asking for disaster. The cost of any tool that presses on the pulley greatly over weighs the possible outcome if you used the stock bolt to pull it on and destroy a crankshaft.

Not bragging, but I've never bought a crank pulley bolt...We've had my pulley off and back on ATLEAST 15times, same bolt...We always are kinda spur of the moment working on **** so thats probably the reason we have always reused them. But, we have reused them and NEVER had an issue. If you're planning ahead, go ahead and get a new one. I think they're $4. If you forget to get one, don't worry about it and just re use it, you'll be fine

I'm a firm believer that if I haven't caught anything yet, I'm pretty much invincible

You're right man. Its only $3. If you're planning ahead, put a bolt on your list of things to buy. If you forget, its not the end of the world, get it next time
