The best thing about a 4.8 is its short stroke. A 4.8 can rev (with the right parts) to 7000+ RPM. Or you can put the short stroke 4.8 crank into a 6.0 block and get a destroked 5.3 that can rev for days.

p.s. I wish I got a 5.3; that way I wouldnt have to toy with the idea of a swap.

There's nothing wrong with the 4.8 motor. Especially not one that's cammed!

Not to pic on you Scream, but last I remember with all your mods and cam you still were slower than seeing red in his stock 5.3. He seems to run 14.8s failry consistant.

If you convert the motors into cubic inchers per rev. the 4.8 is moving the same amount of air at just over 7000rpm as the 6.0 at 6000rpm.

But you are right there is nothing wrong with the 4.8, thats like saying all the mussel car guys are fools for geting the 427 when they could have gotten a 454. Either way its going to kick some ***.

The 4.8 is the smallest gen3 but Ive never had a hard time showing fords or dodges my tail lights.

And, that was before the cam swap. My truck is running about .4 faster than it was this time last year, so I'm hoping for some 14.7-14.8 timeslips if I have the truck long enough to run it in cooler weather.

I have gotten beaten by STOCK 5.3s in extra cabs before.
if u are then ur doing something majorly wrong, unless ur trucks a piece a ****.

next time i hear a story about the 5.3 being so much better, im gonna
Ah ha your right, I just looked under the hood and there is only 6 cylinders, man do I feel like a dumbass.

Ever stop to think that maybe your truck is a "factory freak" instead of calling other people's rides a POS? Two other guys who post on here with 4.8s (one being Crazyidiot4.8) also run similiar times. 15.40s is what he is getting with SCSB 4.8 with Hypertech tuning, UPD, and true duals. A stock 5.3 SCSB will beat that ANY day. So before you start calling other peoples rides POS maybe you should consider other options.

listen man, times in different places dont mean ****. dont compare peoples times who live in intirely different states, different conditions, different track. the only way to tell is a side by side race, everything the same, same time... which i have never lost to a 5.3

Just so you know...crazyidiot4.8 and zerog live in the same town and run at the same track....so that's a pretty good comparison. Also I read a post of yours once that stated the best g-tech time
you could get were low 15's in 60 degree weather.Doesnt look like a factory freak to me.Looks to be about the same as everyone else with a 4.8.Go to the track and get some real times.Street racing may be fun,but many a time i've seen a slower car beat a faster one on the street. The moderators must just keep you around for laughs.....you allways start **** and should have been banned a long time ago.I have to say....I'm humoured at times by you also. But when you start calling other peoples rides pieces of **** it really gets under my skin.We are all here for the same reason. We love trucks and we enjoy talking about them and learning about them from each other. To this day I still cant figure out why you insist on being such a jerk to people on here.

alright... first of all

1. zero and crazyidiot both have 4.8s, so what are u talking about?

2. i do run low 15s, but the 5.3 extcabs ive raced must have been somewhere in the mid 15s. with close to the same mods

3. u dont know anything about y i got kicked off fsc.com. it was for a bs reason that pissed me off. thats why i came back and said all that ****.

4. i find it funny that people talk **** on the 4.8 on this site... but never once have a seen a video of side by side. one 5.3, one 4.8. hmmm wonder y?
looks like i might have to make one and shut u up

ohya, and about calling chingons ride a POS... i know there is no 4.8/5.3 running 17s.. comon man u know that. it must be a piece, thats y i told him to take it in

there's no use arguing with him, his confused mind thinks he has a 5.3. compared to his truck, every other one is a slow turd, including my bs time i have on dragtruk.. i'll laugh when he heads to the track and dosent even know what to do on the staging lane.
