If you won't supercharge the 4.8, and you have the money... then put the bigger engine in. Not much to debate about here. 6.0L > 4.8L

alright now i have a 2001 scsb 4.8 and i only have a drop in air filter (k&n) and well a single inlet/dual outlet muffler and i ran a 15.2 and now i have a HPP3 and i havent had a chance to take it back to the track...i think it will be atleast 14.9....but neways to settle the whole 5.3 vs. 4.8.... i beat my cousins 2001 z71 w/5.3 and then i only had the muffler and he had a k&n drop in and exhaust...i have beat old style 350s and well i have no push over 4.8 ..... i think i have a freak 4.8 lol
I think so too. Even with the mods I have my personal best is a 15.23. I have gotten beaten by STOCK 5.3s in extra cabs before. Don't get me wrong this 4.8 will beat alot of Rams and F-150s but compared to the 5.3 its nothing. i agree with Parish8 there is no replacement for displacement. Thats why I vote for the 6.0L. Another reason is that it will respond to mods much better. I was 2 tenths faster when i plugged in the Hypertech, but most of the guys on here with 5.3s will be 3-4 tenths faster. They just respond to mods better...period. Go for the 6.0L

if u are then ur doing something majorly wrong, unless ur trucks a piece a ****. i beat a 5.3 extcab with the same mods as me except hypertech. got him by about 3 cars. then i raced an 03 extcab 5.3 with i/h/e hypertech. pulled the same length as the other race. then his buddy in a regcab 5.3 z71 got all cocky with me. when i told him it was a 4.8 he chuckled like i didnt have a chance... long story short, raped his *** by a mile

next time i hear a story about the 5.3 being so much better, im gonna

Really? When I had my 3.73s in and open differential, I ran a 17.5 more or less without the HPP3 tuning. Put the tuning in and ran consistent 16.5. That was without the 160 t-stat and advanced timing option.
I put 4.10s in and posi, and the 160 t-stat and the advanced timing (didnt feel anything with it)
and ran a 16.4. Thats with heavy *** 20s though.
I'm going to take off the dubs and run it again, I think(hope) I'll run 16 flats or so.

I don't know how he got beat by stock 5.3s before, I ran against a 5.3 ext cab with just a K&N and I took him by about 2 truck lengths.
I don't know why my 4.8 is so slow compared to you guys claming to run 15s with similar mods as me.
I say go with 6.0, that's what I'm going to do.

What do you guys think a built up 6.0L would run...just motor....
low 14s...high 13s?
Just wondering because when I see Parish8's videos, I just wonder what he could have run if his stock 6.0 was built, then blown, then NOSed....mid 10s?

Funny. MarineBlue03GMC has a 5.3 and a bunch of mods and isnt breaking 15s. I guess we all have V6 engines Or you're full of ****. 4.8 in the 14s? I guess. Wish I bought that 4.8
