Diesel vs. Gas - which is cheaper to mod to 11s and under?
#1
Even if I had to go with a Dodge diesel, which would be cheaper to run 10s/11s: an older (like 99 or older) cummins dodge or a RCSB chevy half ton?
I know diesels have some real easy tuning mods, but they are heavy as hell and need a lot of $ to get past 12s, correct?

With the Duramax you can dip into the 11's, even in a crew cab with the following:
Race Allison 1000 - 5 to 7K depending on brand
Programming - 1,200
Exhaust - 600
Nitrous system - 500 to 1,200 depending on your system preferences
You will burn pretty much 8 to 10K depending on how much you want to customize your rig. How does that compare to the gas curve?

if im not mistaken, it will cost around the same for mods? this is what i figure for a gas engine (say a 5.3 in a RCSB)
headers and cutout - 500
tq converter - 500
cam - 500
dyno tune - 500
used 4L80E - 1k?
intake and misc boltons - 500
injectors and pump - 500ish
and another 4-5k for nitrous and FI

I am planning on doing something similar to this too, and after doing alot of reading, I would think a diesel would be easier and cheaper, maybe not alot cheaper, but..... Also, I like the look of lifted trucks, and I've seen duramaxes run some damn good numbers on 33-35" tires, and most of the gas engines are running stock size tires. I'm not sure how you want to set the truck up, but I have always wanted to go fast and be big and it seems a diesel is the way to go
