Think I figured out my future exhaust set-up (again)

When I can afford it and my 6.0 project gets rolling, here's what I want to do...StainlessWorks headers and y-pipe, but instead of having it come into a y, have it go into an X-pipe, then true duals straight back to two mufflers and turn downs dumped before the rear axle. Still haven't decided on which mufflers yet...either Hooker Aeros, Dynomax Ultra-FLow, maybe Magnaflow...still not sure. I want it to be deep and throaty and much louder than my Gibson (which I must say has held up good for the past 4 1/2 years through New Jersey winters).
Is there any benefit or negative effect of running a dual inlet/outlet muffler instead of 2 separate muffs? Does it make a difference performance and sound wise? (I know in some cases 2 muffs are better than 1
) Also, can anyone think of any issues from putting an X-pipe where the Y-pipe junction would be? Clearance or performance? Thanks!

If you're going to use a 2in/2out muffler similar to the Magna flow, there is no sense in using the x pipe, as the muffler equals out the exhaust pulses. You going to run 2 1/2 or 3"? Sounds like a good set up. If I went dual, I would go true dual though, but I'm planning Pasesetter's (if they get off their ***) through their Y pipe through my cut out then to a bigger 3" Magnaflow turned down after the rear axle. 3" pipe the whole way. Like bigkid has his done.

I'm planning on 2 1/2" since it's a daily driver and I don't plan on keeping it in the higher RPM's too much. I wanna go with a Trailblazer stall to keep it under 3K, and keep the cam in the 220/220 range or maybe a tad smaller (216/220). The smallest dual in/out Magnaflow (11" I believe) doesn't have the internal X, so if I do go with a dual in/out it'll be an itty-bitty one

Is 3" better for performance no matter what or is it overkill on a mostly stock truck?

WTF did I type. 3" single, or 2 1/2 dual

I actually have 2.5" duals on my truck right now with a magnaflow x-pipe and dynomax bullets and turndowns. Ive been looking into getting a set of long tubes because i hear its a good size gain on the 5.3's.
What do you think of the ASM's? I got a deal im trying to work on a set of them. Ill probably change out my catback to something better too instead of the bullets, ill get corsa, magnaflow or borla or something like that.
I wonder if it would be better you do the long tubes/y-pipe combo or just get the headers and keep the duals to be a little different and leave some room to grow like you said.
