Default Oh Well.

I am a Maintenance Tech\ Machinist of 30 years. I have had a 1970 Road Runner, 1969 302 BOSS, 1970 GTO, just to name a few, all of which I modified heavily. As they were, they held up pretty good but you had to know what you had and what it could take before putting it through the paces. If you pushed it over the edge, you only had your self to blame.
If Chevy engineers had your kind of application and driving habits in mind I'm sure it would have held up fine.
It seems to me by what you have posted here, you have done everything possible to make the tranny and rear end crap out. Not to mention the Drive shaft, axles & U-joints.
We all love to tweak our rides and goose them some, but we need to remember what they were engineered for and adjust our driving habits and equipment mods to match up accordingly.
You should have had a 460le built up or a turbo-hydro 400 and have a 12 bolt posi rear end beefed up for the abuse you want to apply.
In short, you JUST can't blame it on Chevy. You know what you did. You admit to having servos and a tune with the larger rims.
Hold you head up man! You can't point at Chevy.

As for the wifes Car. Geeesh Man! You beat on your wifes car? Keep that up and I see it breaking down when you call her to come pick you up after you trash the next component. Take it easy on the back up family driver MAN!

trucks pre 1972 was built to work out of to pull with and withstand abuse
now theyre built for doctors lawyers daycare teachers etc etc
now they put cheap drivelines and such so they can make more money
gm needs to learn the definition of TRUCK
there is no way my 2003 could withstand what my dads 69 work truck went
through
and whats sad is were so technologically advanced
torque management.......wtf like said by someone else "bandaid fix for a weak transmission"
$30,000 for a truck I shouldnt have to fix their screwups

just my opinion
but I still love my truck

ok im done

I work in the service department at a local chevy dealership, I know how they engineered the vehicle. I also know that my drivetrain does not hold up very well either. I see this every day in the drive. I have the luxury having GM repair it under warranty. As for my wife's Honda, well she thinks she is richard petty, you should see the way she drives it. I would never drive this truck like this if it was not under warranty. The flip side is that when I do break something as in the transmission I have the luxury of upgrading with just the cost of the parts.
