2015 RCSB custom exhaust help with factory flange
I have done a lot of reading on here and I have decided I want to do a straight pipe exhaust similar to what lsall1991 did on his truck. I went to my local exhaust shop and they quoted me $100 to remove my factory exhaust at the cat flange and build me a section of straight pipe that dumps right before the rear tire out of mild steel.
They said they would have to cut the factory flange off of the factory exhaust and build from there, however I don't want to cut my factory exhaust in case I want to put it back someday (like in case I need to go to the stealership for warranty work). They said they did not have the ability to get a factory like flanged section of pipe.
I asked if I brought my own flange in if they would use it, they said yes and wished me luck. After a few hours of reading on he interweb I found this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Mild-Steel-V-Band-Kit-2-75-V-Band-Clamp-Flange-/181630489631?hash=item2a4a05541f&vxp=mtr
Is this the right type and size of flange to mate up to the factory flange behind the cat. Thanks in advance for any help.

i know i tried the same thing for months never finding any luck. buy that flange and let me know if it works out.
after giving up i had the factory muffler deleted and gutted the third cat. its still very quiet, but with a tiny rumble. id still like to make it louder.
what would be best is getting only half of the flange off a factory cat back.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem. I sometimes enjoy solving the problem more than the solution itself. Somebody makes a damn factory flange and I'm gonna find it. Guess I'll have to crawl under the truck and get a good look at the factory one first.

Leave the factory flange on it, just have the shop make a slip joint behind it and seal it with a band clamp.
The band clamp won't distort the factory pipe and you can easily re-install the oe parts.
cat backs are not a warranty issue, the dealer sells and installs them on new trucks.

Funny I was looking under my truck today as I am tired of it being silent (2015 2500HD 6.0). I have decided, that where the hangar is right in front of the factory muffler is getting cut, and I'm welding a stainless 45 degree 3.5 inch bend on (stock exhaust is 3.5 inch), and I will be putting a nice tip on, and will cut the 45 degree bend where needed on both sides to get it positioned to exit in front of the rear tire/mud flap.
I am debating on ordering a muffler to put in the strait section between the hangar and the ball flange. If I do it's going to be a bullet type and that's it.
I don't know how loud it will be but I'm going to try that first, and see how obnoxious it is. Cats and all that are stock. If it's not that bad, that's how it's getting left. I'll put up a photo when it's done. If this works out it will be the cheapest cat back option ever, and likely be about the easiest and cheapest as well.
