Default Cam recomendations

Okay guys, i'm looking to do a 6.0 swap on my 1999 ecsb. and while it is out i would like to put a small cam in.
so what would the more experienced recommend for a mild to moderate very streetable cam? Not really looking for alot of lope but more than stock is fine.

Also, while im in there i figured a new oil pump and timing chain. so what are your recommendations there as well?

You want a mild cam....any plans for a higher stalled torque converter? If you're planning on using the factory verter, you could go with like a Comp 212/218, or the Vinci "ultra torque" (210/218 .551/.551 116). You could go a little bigger like a Comp 216/220 or a Vinci "Trucker" (216/224 .551/.551 115), but both of those cams would perform best with a mild stall, like a 2600 or something like that. None of these cams will lope hard in a 6.0...with proper tuning they can probably sound almost stock.

Check out the multimedia area. Zippy posted an idle clip of his 6.0 with a TR224 112 with all stock exhaust. It's idles just like stock. Also he has the stock converter and he says it drives just fine.

imo 228R cam makes power off idle to 6400 rpm, here is a clip of the TSP 228R clip

For the oil pump I'd just get the stock replacement..."LS6" oil pumps are the exact same pump that comes in our truck. You could get one of those ported high volume pumps, but I don't see the need. Seems oil starvation and low oil pressure are not issues that GENIII motors have.

I'd go for an LS2 timing chain, it's beefier than the stocker and fairly inexpensive

if you have an 06' you already have the LS2 timing chain and sprocket, LS6 pump

224/230 .581/.588 112 lsa, makes good power, has a good sound in the 6.0s not to lopey just a real good sound, its a custom grind from comp, its the same cam i run in my 5.3 its a little big for it but its perfect for a middle cam for you.

overall it needs to be streetable as this truck is my one and only daily driver.
I don't have plans right now for a stall as i don't have the cash and wouldn't until possibly this summer.
The TR 224 sounds good, and should give me some decent gains i imagine.
and now since i'm pretty new with cams is this TR 224 just any 224/224 112 cam or specific to a certain manufacturer?

Quick question for the guys who posted the larger cam grinds, aren't those cams kinda soggy down low, and that's why most guys who run those cams use a higher stalled tq converter? Also, what RPM do you spend most of your time in? 1800-2500 (cruisin), or 6k+?
