Surface area does set the measure for cooling calculations (other than design bar and plate vs. fins etc.) But if you look at the roots blower, it outlets in a small section just below the blower. The LS1 kit has 1/3 of the intercooler acting as a 'heat sink' instead of a medium of convection cooling.

Lengthening the intercooler would have some benefit if the intake manifold plenum volume was increased by way of larger height. Although, at higher pressures, air finds the quickest way out - directly below the outlet in this case. What you really need to do is gather all of the heated air into a pipe, send that pipe to the intercooler, into another pipe to take all the cooled air back to the engine. ...tough to do in this case.

Guys have run what, 12psi on these blowers? You should be okay. And that is a lot of power gain. You are just too much of a gear head BigTex
