I feel bad for mike in a way, he has been with me during a few engine & trans failures. But his new set-up will be sweet

I wonder how many people actually put a scan tool on his tunes.

Was that a Nelson Tune?

It was a Nelson tune. Look im not saying what was to blame but two people have looked at the tune and when I told them I went lean fast they pinpointed on the tune somehting that could have caused it. I know Allen has tuned alot of people and has been great to me. Listen Ive sprayed the 4.8 5 times. The second time I sprayed I got a loud knock under the hood that sounded liek someone was under my hood and threw a rock at it(damn dwarfs-no offense) I pulled over and everything was running great except I was getting a slight knock on acceleration. It was so slight we thought it was a pushrod. When I replaced the pushrods, cam, and springs it went away and all was fine. I sprayed it twice more on the dyno and once more leaving and all was good. I got the new tune for the cam yesterday and the shift wer all messed up and the rev limiter and electric throttle control were not matching. We got into it one good time no n20 and when I hit about 6k+ it stayed there for a second and then clickclack bang whatever it was nasty. We brought it ot a stop and the truck died. It cranked back up and we drove it about 1/2 mile back to my friends. This whole time the TECH-2 was hooked up and it went leans as hell when this happened. Im not blaiming anything because I perosnally dont have the knowledge but I do know that when it went lean last night it fried the #3 spark plug, piston and the rest of what goes with that! I have emailed Allen about it but Im not holding anyone acountable its my deal and thats cool. I will eb emailingm y tune to Flyer to take a look at and another just to get anothers opinion.

At what point were the ltrims at +17??? I'm sure they weren't +17 all the time. Plus, ltrim values are beaten to death, the pcm has a job to do, if they are positive fine, if they are negative fine, that is what the pcm is supposed to do. You can tune for ltrims in one city and drive home, now they are different. Keep trying to chase the ltrim values and you're going to be working on that tune for a long time, get them close and let the pcm do it's job. I agree +17 is a little high, but that could be the cause of a lot of things.
Where are you getting this 5800rpm value from? Are you just guessing on the values or did you actually read it? Also, you may want to read up on what the ETC actually does. I just checked all his tunes, and that value is still stock, you're looking at the wrong rpm limiter!
And so what about the 6700rpm limiter, you have to raise that or you'll run into hitting the limiter. The stock rpm shift table is 400-500 rpms higher than the stock rev limiter.
The application you are using has a help file, try using it!
Good luck tuning,
allen

Flyer, are you going to start again?
I'll keep this off line, pm me with the other people, I'll be more than glad to fix them up.

How were the injectors looking? You may have maxed them out. In that case, it doesn't matter how much you add fuel in the pcm.
Your latest tune had about a 10% increase in fuel added to the top.
I too have a tech II and genisys, it's very hard to look at all the values at once. Did you happen to log them, if so, I'd like to look at the data.
talk to you later,

Why would my injectors be maxed out? I wasnt spraying just about 3/4 throttle! when it all happened? My mechanic said that I shouldnt even worry about injectors with the new LS1 unless I do say headwork or something!

Just an idea, but my truck takes about 150 miles with a new tune to settle down. But before that, it's all over the place. Did you give the PCM time to learn. I'm just throwing that idea out there. But from what it sounds like to me, the problem occured after you sprayed, and initially heard the noise. It probably caused a crack, it propagated, spraying it again didn't help, then finally it let go. That's the mechanical side of what happened. I would think that with internal damage and cyl. 3 pretty much useless, no tune would help you. Just my thoughts.

it doesnt matter because I went lean without the n20. My timing in the tune I just got was 24 degrees and before the updated tune I was spraying with 34 degrees of timing at WOT and my A/F was fine. But this all happened last night with just motor! Im almost positivemy injectors arent maxed. Im not blaming anyone but I want to figure it out for you and others reference if needed or wanted! Ive had 5 or 6 tuned now with this truck and it wasnt something that was going to settle down after a relearn it was to drastic!
