No the tune was never touched but this isnt something that just happened it was a time bomb! The heads have a little damage but they are going to get milled and the one fixed. Im going ahead and replacing the lifters and the rest is staying the same. Yeah I just had to borrow the money not a biggie! I will be up and running proabbly tomorrow so Im kind of excited! I went and saw the damage and it was pretty nasty. Im going back out there now to get some pics and Ill post in a few!

Did this happen before or after ya'll made some changes to the tune?
WE DIDN'T TOUCH THE TUNE, IT WAS WAY OFF THOUGH! LTFT's were at +17%, the shift tables were off, they had it shifting @ 30 mph @ wot in first, which it would go to 45 mph, whenever he would shift from 1-2 the rev limiter would cut in & once it shifted all was fine. from looking at the edit file they had they electronic throttle control cutting out @ 5800 rpms WTF? everthing else including all rev limiters were set @ 6700.

I feel bad for mike in a way, he has been with me during a few engine & trans failures. But his new set-up will be sweet

So what was the actual cause of this? Was it the nitrous or a bad tune, did it all happen at once or overtime? Im just concerned because I have also been hearing a slight ticking noise comming from engine but it sounds more audable from under the truck and when Im driving on a road with a curb where it echos underneath hope its an exhaust leak anyways congrats on the new motor and a 21 gun salute to the old 4.8

everyone I know or have heard of running the gas, blows there motor or breaks something not to long down the road.
but even N/A or F/I have it's faults to.

maybe subconsciously we push them to there limits hoping they will break apart so we have an excuse to get a bigger motor
