it' all about how much rwhp your looking for and then take it from there, I was in your shoes when I join PT.net and every body said the same thing to me I started with my 4.8 trying to whip my dads lightning so I found a good deal on a longblock lq9 6.0L at first I just wanted to do the swap just with the stock 6.0 and then I was like "well it's already out so might as well do the cam" and then I said well just do the heads to and so on & so on till now about $5000 later lol i'm almost done just awaiting on my stall and my longtubes looking for 430+ rwhp and low 12s high 11s n/a.... So all in all I hope you get what your looking for and just make a plan and save up and do it... Good luck on evry thing :-)

My 4.8 ran 16.0's at the track with 4.10 gear, intake and magnaflow exhaust. Did a lq4 swap got some cheap long tubes and a custom tune I went 13.3@103mph on a stock cam/converter. I got my lq4 for $1200 don't wast money on the 4.8
