Default is it...

..really worth putting a lot of money into a 4.8 v8 to make it faster or would it be better to just start saving up for a 6 or 6.2 v8?

theres nothing wrong with building a 4.8 if your willing to build and stall the trans right away.

building a 6.0 is fun and its a good experience but if you start getting radical your going to have to stall the trans as well. Also to accommodate the 6.0 swap (even a stocker) you will need a built (or 4L80 ) Trans. Your call really. I had fun with my cammed 4.8. Its really what you want out of your truck

4.8s do like boost. And you can walk a lightning in a built 4.8 too. Just all about what you want.

yeah....i just talked to a guy who has a mechanic shop and he said that he could probably get a 6.0 with everything else i would need for the swap with low mileage for around 1500....does that sound true or is he just blowing smoke? lol

all you need for the swap is a longblock.
