Default 6.0L swap! How hard is the install

Hey Guys

I have 2002 Silverado ecsb 5.3L auto, instead of building my 5.3. I thought of installing the LQ9 motor. The basic install i can do, but as far as the tuning or software what would i need to do? or if i dont do this i thought of buying a 408 short block from MTI or SLP. I know the GEN 3 engines, the sky is the limit for creating power but for me if i can get my truck to run mid 13's i will be extremely satisfied.

Thanks for everything

P.S. after my truck is done or the way i want it, i'm buying 87 Buick Grand National 3.8L Turbo as my weekend cruzer and bruiser

assuming you have the mechanical know-how and the correct tools, its pretty much an "old engine out, new one in". All the connections are the same. You can use the 5.3 ECU but eventually you'll have to tune it OR get a 6.0 ECU.

And if you're going to keep your 4L60e you'll need a 02+ engine I think, it might be 01+, I know you can find all the info if you search. But, that 4L60e isnt going to last you for ****.

you dont need a 6.0 to run mid 13's, Im almost there, I just have to retune ... but if you want a 6.0 then go for it.... my friend has a ecsb with a 6.0 head/cam and running high 12's...

A few things that will be really important for you to retune:

1. Cylinder size
2. VE tables
3. PE tables
4. Idle airflow tables
5. Spark tables

As stated above, if you are going with a stock LQ9 you can find a stock LQ9 tune and flash that into your PCM and be good to go.

Check out this site for your 6.0L swap. Sweet site and McLennan (the creater) has been there, done it and can help with any questions. It'll remove all guesswork and questions you might have and as I said he can fill you in on any part of it.

http://www.6lz71.com/

Spit fire is right on the swap. You should check out that site. Talking to 6LZ71, skip the swap and any small power adders and visit STS turbo's site. $$$ for the engine, add ons, etc, etc, minor power increase, a turbo though, sweet power.
