What kind of power are we talking here? This sounds like a serious rear-end. It will also eat up a lot of power. Just something to ponder over. Have you blown up your 10bolt? At any rate Moser, Strange and the like will make you an axle to any configuration that's possible.

yup....the axles are the same for all AAM 14 bolt SF housings, I've done this swap on another truck and I'm currently thinking about doing it on the one I have so I can get a better choice of rims

Just curious--how could one convert the front to 8-lug? I always thought a RCSB would look cool on some 8-lug wheels.

You have to swap to the 3/4 ton LD/HD spindle.....they use a spindle that actually bolts the hub to it from the backside (looks like a 1/2 ton 4WD spindle but ALOT heavier-duty....the 2wd and 4wd LD/HD trucks actually use the SAME spindle), they will bolt onto the 1/2 ton control arms without issues. To swap from 8-lug to 6-lug you just reverse the process (I'll have to get 1/2 ton 4wd spindles...if I had a 2wd I'd get the 2wd spindles)

Would they earlier axles with a 6 bolt work even though the rear end is set up for drum brakes?

YES...the axleshafts are the same...it's everything that bolts to the housing (and the housing itself) that is different
