Default Yank Truck Thruster...

I have read alot of articles on here about how the 9.5" converter is not as streetable or as good to tow (6000lb boat) with as the 10.5" or 11" converter. That with a Rmadix you dont need to go as large as NA and stay in the 2600-2800 range. Triple disc is needed for RWTQ over 500 ft-lb. But there are exceptions to the rules, what are they? I want an ocassional play dragstip truck but mostly DD I drive 4hrs on the highway 4 times a month and only tow every now and then. I have a trans cooler. This is what I think I have decided on anyone have any other opinions or statments about my research? Please inform me of dealer or website too thanks.

Youd probably be happiest with a tt2600.

I was asking about the Yank TT series last week, and the best advice I got was to contact Yank directly and find out what they recommend for higher HP applications. I tried to contact them via their website, but haven't heard back, I guess that calling is the best route. The Torque Thruster converters seem like a great product for the price, if they'll hold up behind higher ponies.

Here's their website: http://www.converter.cc/

Your 03' Tahoe mods and HP #s are almost identical to mine. I have had a Yank TT2600 for 2.5 yrs now and I'm very happy with it. I tow a 5k camper in the summer and have never seen temps. above 190*(using stock trans. cooler).
I have the tune set up so that the TCC does not lock up on a WOT run. You need to buy the SC series if you want to abuse or lock the TCC up under boost.
The SC is more expensive and stronger but as BC says, "you have to pay to play".

In your situation I would go with a vig triple disk 10.5" (265mm) or a circle D 258mm (10.25") triple disk. I'll be going with one of those myself.

when you don't allow it to lock up at WOT, is there any negatives to this? cause doesn't the stock TC lock up at WOT?

locking the converter is said to be best for turbo cars, also if you are running out of rpm's at the end of the track locking the converter can allow you to finish without hitting the rev limiter. For towing and what not, when going with a smaller performance converter, the triple disk is a must to get adequate clutch surface area Ive been told.
