Default will too much fluid cause this?

Long story short, I had my 60e rebuilt by a local guy. I put it in today, put 5qts in to start with, start up the truck, and put in 4 more quarts and check the level. Its showing to be overfilled. The converter already had fluid in it. I back out of the driveway. 1-2 shifts is fine, goes to shift into 3rd and nothing..... I checked the fluid again and its still a little high.

No, Unless the overflow is stopped up. I always run my transmission a little over full.

Hopefully its just something in the valve body so I don't have to pull it again. Lol

running it a little high i dont see much happening but if its to high i could see it foaming and causing eratic pressure... flt or performabuilt did a right up on it once... they kept adding it or something till they seen a change...

but i dont think that this is your problem

I just spoke with the builder. He told me to drive it and see if it has od. If it doesn't, its most likely a check ball. If it does have od, he said it may be the sprag. I hope its just a check ball...
