Yea,

Short version, The Beast SunShell splayed open and the fingers were cutting into the case. I have the pics somewhere.

The vendor blamed it on me saying I did a 4-2 kickdown.

Never again.

WTF. I would figure a built trans should hold a 4-2 kick down.

Beast has been made in China (or Taiwan) for years now afaik, lots of people reporting failures...instead try Sonnax Smart Shell might work better. But still the 4L60E's not going to hold serious power as has been proven time and time again. Regardless if I was building one a quality shell is critical

Ive done lots of boosted 4-2 kick downs, I know ppl say thats what kills the 60e's, but does anyone have proof of that?

I was just talking with the trucks new owner and said I never let it down shift on its own when going wot from a roll. I would always down shift into 3rd, 2nd or 1st before flooring it. Mine never broke when i was beating on it but i always thought it sure wouldnt hurt having it in the gear already before all hell breaks loose. Once I went WOT, i moved the shifter into 3 and let the tcm take over.

Shame on me but I did a bunch of 4-2's in my 07 in autotrac or 2wd if I really wanted to blow the tires off ~ 40 maybe 50. My local builder did tell me the red clutches were trying to glaze a little if I recall. He went into it twice in a couple years just to see how it was doing. All I remember.

I know of a crewcab silverado with a 4l60e in it laying down 890 RWHP on a mustang dyno. The transmission used to be mine. the transmission is clicking along just fine.

before he got it from me, i was pushing 500rwhp with a 6,000 stall converter.
