especially with 200hp and "omg I abuse my **** so hard and yet it still wont die!"

Ive never seen a 2.2 S10 **** a 4L60, so I guess that means the 4L60 is a good trans, eh? Same logic I just read about this 85e BS.

I just find it funny that years ago I said put an 80/85E into it and here we are post after post after post of 4L60E disappointment.
Couldn't hurt my high mileage JUNKYARD 4L85E by overheating the converter hot enough to cook the rubber trans cooler line. Have fun playing with those POS 60Es.

You do realize I am spraying 150 hp into a 6" rod 355 with 200cc aluminum heads and a 215/224 @ .050 roller cam with .578/.578" lift from the 1.7 rockers. On engine alone I am making about 425 HP at the flywheel. Make about 575 crank on spray. I don't spray while towing, but I have sprayed the thing just playing around for the hell of it. That engine sees 6,200 rpm multiple times daily at WOT.

My 2nd 4L80E is behind a L18 8.1 with the 420 HP mercruiser cam in my 1999 Tahoe. I also spray 150 shot into it. Makes about the same HP as the small block but ALOT more torque.

huh. Sounds like a lot of wasted effort. Ive made more than that (through a 60e, surprisingly) with a lot less work on my 5.3 (in a Tahoe). Didnt even need spray, heads, rockers, poke and stroke; just hit the skinny pedal harder. Stock exhaust even . In fact, I made at the wheels what youre claiming at the crank, and I have proof of it.

But hey, there is always someone faster, always someone slower. Beating the dick out of a trans to the point its melting **** is not something to brag about, it simply speaks volumes to being an inattentive/bad driver/builder/owner.

It was not a case of being inattentive, abusive, or a bad driver/builder/owner.
The only reason it melted PERIOD is because I drove it with a slight misfire that never even tripped a service engine soon light and the converter stayed unlocked for miles while towing a 6,000 lbs trailer at about 70-75 mph.
Honestly I doubt you would notice the 2-300 rpm extra slip in a vehicle without a tach either. Trans fluid sending unit in the pans never even showed the trans running hot either.

sounds like a lot of BS to me, but whatever helps you justify it man. My TC unlocked is worth a lot more than 300rpm, and I can certainly feel it unlock. Its locks and unlocks like another gear, and the harmonics change completely.
