Ram 1500 6 speed into 1500 Sierra???
#1
Ok, so i got this truck thinking i would simply drive it and leave it alone, now however the trans is giving me fits and I thought " why the hell not put a manual in it " I hate automatics, despise them.. I would love this truck if it were a manual...
I strongly dislike the Nv3500 transmissions, i have had alot of trouble with them i the past. This truck is a DD that is going to recieve a heads/cam and rebuild this spring and that is it...
I like the dodge 6 speed, i have driven them several times and like it, smooth shifting (as you would expect from a mercedes transmission).. I wondered if there would be any sense in doing the work?
I know novak makes an "amc" to LS1 adapter so that will just bolt up, and the dodges use 241 xfer cases so that shouldnt be a big deal..
What do you all think? If it will hold up in a ram that weighs the same it should hold up in a GM right?
To those that have swapped to a manual trans, did you change engine harness too or just leave the auto harness tied out of the way?
What did you have to do to the tune?
Truck info is in Sig, soon to be lowered a bit and have NNBS 20s on it.
06 ECSB, L33, going with a 3/level lowering kit, helpers... etc..
Thanks in advance

I believe rockland gear makes a 4wd t56, as some questions there.
A guy on here swapped the gm zf-6 into his avalanche and did a real nice write up on the swap. Can't remember his name but search and i'm sure its there.
Only problem with that or the doge trans is that they are big. The only reason the zf-6 fit is because he had a body lift....doesnt go with a lowered truck very well.

I dont want to use the HUGE and HEAVY ZF.. Id like for it all to fit above the frame rail, and i dont want to use a body lift on a truck i intend to lower..
If worse comes to worse is there anything that can be done for the Nv3500s to help them out? Is there a shifter upgrade?
I would LOVE to use a T56 but i dont know about the price and adapter cost..

The Dodges in question 04-present with a 4.7 in them had the option to recieve a 6 speed manual, the transmission was a Getrag 238 model trans, it was a 6 speed with single overdrive and no granny gear, I do tow with the truck, the occasional car on a trailer haul, but no need for granny 1st.
