Cool man, thanks.
I think I would like to keep the truck NA. The most power I want to make with it is 400WHP...But 350 would make me very happy.

I have been toying with the idea of a Blower or a hairdryer, but I just dont want to go breaking things left right and center

If I want to get stupid I will find a RCSB truck and a big dirty to play with...or get an F-Body.

Just a little more get up and go, and a 6 speed for kicks...thats the goal. Make it fun to drive.

I hear ya. My 6-spd is getting tossed in this week, and after that the mod list just keeps on going.

Do it right the first time I say. I spent more than I planned on my T56, but according to my builder about the only thing left to "upgrade" would be to a Viper output shaft, and he said that'd be overkill for my application, even after an engine swap. 400rwhp is my goal too, so it should be able to hold that just fine, especially in my RCSB truck.

Hey Daryn...you still running the T56 in your truck?

I have 31's, do you think that 5.13 would be a little large?? I guess with the .50:1 6th gear it would be about the same as my stock 3.42 rears though?

I also am not sure if I want to run a 14B SF (AXN RPO Code) or stay with the 10B I have now. My buddy is running 870RWHP in his avalanche and having no prob with the 10B and 3.73 gears...even the G80 has held up....The 60E however...not so much.

For the extra few bucks I would save staying with my 10B I guess its just not worth having it come apart.

Well...I guess all I need to do now is source parts.

Which T56 should I get (M6 M10 or M12)
Hope to get one out of an SSR....but not likely.

You guys are aware that they put a t56 behind a v10 in a truck right? Also called a srt10 ram. now I have seen stock ones handle a 1000 hp in a viper. Granted the one i just bought has all the better stuff in it. i think the biggest issue is the cruise control and clutches. I think if you are going to have issues then it will be to abuse, wore out trans installed and improper installation.

I went with the GTO T56, which ever RPO code that may be. It has a deeper first gear (2.97 vs. the 2.66 in the F-body ones), has triple cone synchros for smoother operation, factory 1-2 and 3-4 steel shift forks, and also a .57 6th gear as opposed to the .5 in the f-body. That enables me to run not as a deep a rear gear (planning on 4.56) so I can keep the driveshaft speeds down some.

So I'd recommend the GTO or SSR trannies due to the altered gearing (same as vette gearing) and beefier internals.

Yeah...chances of getting a GTO one here in canada are slim to none...and to get one ordered out of the US I'm just as well taking an f-body one and altering its gears and other internals...

An SSR would be ideal, but failing that I will get an f-body one.

Thanks guys

I checked the gear speed calc. Seems like I fall right in the middle with 31's. 4.56 is too small, and 5.13 is a little too big. Thats looking at the 1500RPM reading....4.88 will put me almost stock...I have 3.42 gears right now...and with the .50 6th and 4.88 I rev about 100-200rpm faster to do highway speed.

But I am gonna trust your judgment and will likely go for 5.13 to make sure the load is a little lighter on the trans.
