Need help: Horrible ride on my 03 Sierra. :-(

Yeah they were for a 2/4 dropped truck. The only problem with that truck was in needed a c notch cuz I had urethane bumpstops so when the axle hit em it was hard. Did you see that guy who has some shock extenders fore sale I posted it on page 2

Ok sounds good Barley. For now I guess I'll just try the Belltech extensions and Edelbrock shocks. Hopefully the serious bouncing will go away so i don't need the C notch. At this point, even with the bouncing I rarely ever bottom out. To be honest it only bottoms out when the rear starts bouncing like crazy, which shouldn't happen if the extensions do their job, at least I hope. :-) Oh at this point I won't be buying the Caltracs hangers but thanks for the offer :-)

Well I finally got the Beltech shock extensions. When I went to go put them on I noticed that one of my Edelbrock IAS shocks was blown (I could compress it with no resistance at all, and could here the piston slapping the inside of the tube when I did.)
After discovering the blown shock I then discovered that the Beltech shock extensions would not bolt on because of a slight curve on the factory bracket for the bottom of the shock. The extensions were definitely the right part number, so I'm not sure why they didn't fit. With a little grinding I know I can make them fit, however I'm going to order a set of Calvert racing rear adjustable shocks to replace the rear blown Edelbrock shocks (I know the driver side shock is blown, not sure about the passenger side, but I definitely don't want to get more Edelbrocks.)
On a side note I'm beyond annoyed with Beltech. First I had an issue with my less than one year old rear lowering leaf springs having a shifting leaf (Passenger side is basically completely shifted out of alignment with the other leafs, and the driver's side is on its way out too.) I called Beltech and they told me to just tighten the bolt running through the leafs. Wow thank's Beltech. Second I have these extensions that clearly do not bolt on correctly, and require modifications to even work. After these two experiences, and the clearly apathetic Beltech "technical support" guy, I have no plans on ever purchasing anything from them again. The obviously put little effort into the quality control/production of their products, and even less effort into customer support. Anyway I just figured I'd post an update regarding this whole "fix my horrible ride" thing, as well as my garbage Beltech experience.

Last time I checked I remember that they actually had a limited lifetime warranty. I'm gonna give Edelbrock a call to check. I'm still gonna get the Calvert rear shocks, and I'll probably sell the Edelbrocks, if they get replaced. I think I'll try DJM next time I need new suspensions parts, although I've been very happy with my Hotchkis and Caltracs parts.

Just thought I'd do an update to this post about the Calvert Racing 9 way adjustable shocks I installed today. This update is one of sheer joy, specifically due to the fact that these new Calvert shocks ride like a dream. The rear end of my truck feels literally glued to the road, always seems to stay solid/planted, and no amount of bumps/potholes, etc. seem to upset it. I highly recommend that anyone looking for a set of rear shocks get the Calvert shocks. They were worth every penny. In fact they ride so well that now I noticed how horrible the front end (Still has Edelbrocks) rides when compared to the rear. Unfortunately Calvert doesn't make front shocks so I'm planning to possibly get some Beltech's, unless someone has any suggestions. I know the Calvert shock is based on a Rancho shock, however I don't know of any Rancho shocks that would fit my 2" drop in the front, since as far as I know the replacement shock needs to be one for a lowered truck. Oh and I'm returning the shock extenders I ordered. The truck rides literally perfect without them.

Great post - you're running nearly the exact set-up I'm putting in place on my 2004 GMC Step-Side & its nice to hear how well it works. Just dropped the truck with a 4/2 McGaughys kit and am running into the same rear-end ride issues you mentioned - thanks for posting the results. Just curious what you've set your Calverts on, by the way.

I actually just sold the truck, but I had the rear shocks set at 3. Caltracs reported that the best overall comfort was usually from 2-5. I found 3 to be perfect for street driving.

I was going to suggest checking the shocks but you already got it figured out.
If you do go to notch a frame at some point make sure you drill holes at the corners and then cut your straight lines. You dont want to cut right up to the corners, it will crack later.
I wouldnt use DJM, I always use McGaughys.
