Losing fluid out of slip yolk after long sit?
#1
After trans was rebuilt and a restalled trailblazer converter was installed I lose 1.5 qts or so if I let it sit without running it. i am thinking the converter is the cause. What do you transmission experts think?

How could the converter cause this? It is at the other end of the tranny. It sounds like the seal is damaged to me. Where is it exactly leaking from? Could be along the shaft, where the seal contacts the tailhousing, or it could be near the U-joint.

well im not saying this is the proper way to fix it, but on mine there is a little breather hole on the slip yoke that was leaking fluid when i let it sit, so i removed the yoke, and filled the hole with jb-weld. have not had a problem since. im sure that replacing the seal is the proper way to fix it but....it did work well for me

Need to figure out exactly where it's coming from. Either between the seal and the yoke, or out the welch plug at the end of the yoke.
A lot of builders just remove the output shaft sleeve and o-ring on the output shaft that seals the yoke for whatever reason. This might be your case here.

After a trans sits for a few days the converter Drains, thus letting most of the fluid out, its got to go somewhere, pull a d-shaft out of a full trans and come back a few days later and see hom much leaked out

As mentioned in this thread the issue is more than likely that your leak is from the back of the slip yoke. Either your builder forgot to install the metal cup that's is pressed on the output shaft, the seal inside the cup is missing, or the cup is loose on the shaft and is causing your leak. The quick fix here is to seal up the back of the yoke if in fact that is where the fluid is coming from. Vince
