Default Just ordered FLT trans. have a few Q's

I just ordered a 4L65E from FLT today and had a couple of questions. Should I replace the flexpalte? My truck has 150,000++ on it. If so were to buy? Also the a stall convertor from a 4L60E is the same right?

Thanks
Danny

Your flexplate should be fine, and the TC will work too.

What is a is a good stall for the trucks?(RPM wise) I was looking at the Yank convertors. I am also going to be puttin' a cam in the truck too. Not sure of the specs just yet but I'm thinking 2800-3000rpm is bout right. What do ya'll think?

The cam depends on what I can pass smog with. I need to do a little more research on that though. If I remember right I think I can't go past 220 at 0.50. Not sure yet. And the cam is going to be for the 6.0 too.

Flexplate doesn't need to be replaced. Converter only needs to be replaced if the old tranny grenaded and has metal in the fluid. I passed smog with a 2500 stall (flashed to 3000) and a 208/214 cam. I'm sure I could have used more duration and a ls1 probably could use more still.

Default Do NOT...

If your installing a new trans, it would be best to at least have your tc cut and cleaned. Also flushing the cooler is a good idea!! Chuck is one of the best out there and you will be very happy with his product. GOOD CHOICE

I am not going to use the old convertor. My tranny was not in very good shape with 150,000++ on it. I am losing 1-2 and overdrive so I know it has to have some metal in it.

I didn't think of the cooler. Man I'm glad you said that. I need to upgrade that too. And clean the lines out.

I'm going to pull the motor and trans and replace with the 6.0 and 4L65E. Damn I need a cam. Heads too.

Thanks Guys
