Default PRC Beehive Spring Failure 5.3

I bought the "199-PRC 1518 single beehive springs to go with my custom Comp cam, (212/220 .561). After a little more than 100 miles the #2 exhaust valve spring has broken in 2 places. It started, I believe by fatiguing causing a random mis-fire, (P030), and then finally a P0302 when it actually broke. Thankfully the retainer and keepers stayed put and this occurred while gently cruising at 50 mph. To date these springs have only seen 6200 rpms over a little more than 100 miles. Ordered a replacement and will install it but I'll probably be a bit paranoid.

Wanted to get this out there to any of you that might be using these springs as a heads up.

Additionally fwiw, the valve train made absolutely no noise when this occurred. Other than zero compression in #2, I didn't know the actual cause until I pulled the valve cover.

Did you give them a proper heat cycle before hammering on them?

Are those springs made by PAC?

Breaking with that low miles seems suspicious for install error. However, I know sometimes these things just do break inexplicably. Ever since my beehive broke and dropped valve I won't use a single spring in the future.

I always order an extra spring for this reason. Had an inner spring fail once...better to be safe than sorry.

I have the same springs hopefully I don't have this problem. I have done many redline runs already.
