hope its a broken flexplate

Default hope its a broken flexplate....it was!

tick tick tick.....tick tick tick.....tick tick tick.... coming from the bellhousing area in drive at a stop. much less noticeable in neutral and reverse. cant hear while driving because exhaust is slightly obnoxious. i have a tune scheduled for friday...so hope its a quick and easy fix tomorrow evening. **** **** ****

anyone had similar experiences?

I did....my exhaust was hitting up against the frame. That is the very first thing to check.

Also, you have the 4l80e. Pull that massive dust cover off and you got easy access. No bullshit like the 60e

pulling cover tomorrow.....will check exhaust again....
it is a brand new setup afterall.

factory 80e verter, factory bolts....its a new noise...had the 80 for almost 3 years now

It's gotta be the exhaust hitting. Didn't you just add headers and custom piping back?

its a completely new exhaust and LT setup. going to check all that stuff tomorrow.
my trans guy thinks its the flexplate.....i drove it over there earlier today
...which i dont mind since its an easy fix.

i sell lots of 80e flexplates the centers are known to break out of them.

if it is the plate...maybe its worth the extra $$ to get the ATI.

80's go through ALOT of flywheels. GM has an updated spacer and flywheel to eliminate it, but last time I checked the kit was on national backorder. I would make sure it doesn't need to be shimed, and make sure both dowel pins are installed correctly.
