Default Help asap!!!

I just installed my transmission afyer being down for like 9 months. Get everything together and it feels like the gear selector is stuck. I can't move it. When I removed the nut to take off the cable fir the gear selector it turned (switched) gears wothkit the gear selector moving. Is there some sort of safety or did I mess up the cable?

no you didnt mess anything up. make sure that the arm that you bolted to the transmission is aligned with the groove on the shaft that sticks out of the transmission. if it is not aligned, turn the shaft on the transmission over to the park position and bolt it back up.

if you cant shift that shaft on the side of the transmission with a wrench you have bigger problems.

It will switch the gears. Park is all the way forward right? ( to the left). Well when I tirn it all the way to the left the arm doesn't line up. I can tirn it one click to the right which I'm assuming is reverse, it ligns up. But gear selctor doesn't move still.

so is the cable all the way into the bracket on the side of the trans? it sounds like it hasnt gone far enough. there should be two "prongs" that stick out to keep it from sliding back out of the bracket. have they gone through?

Make sure you have it turned the right way...the cable should be on the inner part I think. Its possible to twist it around.
