found my transmission bleeding out.

so, it has been raining down in texas for about a week now, and my truck has waiting in the garage for it to stop. i come home last night and notice a rather large puddle transmission fluid glaring back at me. i got under there and looked around nothing seemed out of place. so after some thinking i have come up with this: is it possible for all the transmissiond fluid (when sitting for about 6 days) to drain out of the lines and tranny itself back into the pan? i belive the bracket that holds the dip stick tube had been bent alittle, and the tube did not sit like i thought it should, but i thought it would be fine. so i think the fluid filled up the pan and then dumped about 2-3 quarts of fluid out from around the dip stick tube.
dose that sound right to yall?
was there an o ring between the tranny and tube?

If that tube is crooked it may have pinched or broke that seal. I had that trans in a 68 nova and had clearence issues with the firewall so I was always swapping out tubes to find one that would fit.
